Rotary Club of Lamentin, Martinique

Team in front of rubber ficus at Depaz distillery

March 9 - The Rotary Club of Lamentin met for a special lunch meeting at the Depaz Rhum Agricole distillery in Saint Pierre, about an north of Fort de France. Prior to the lunch meeting, the club and our team were treated to a tour of the distillery by the director general – the vapors were intoxicating in themselves. That’s the subject of a different article.

Since this meeting was held in a sort of open air restaurant setting, and all of our computer batteries were exhausted, we were not able to do our normal PowerPoint presentation. It worked out well – the team passed around their photo albums and talked interactively with the Rotarians. Fortunately, this club was full of English speakers!

Shelly with the Lamentin club banner and gift

Since the tour of the rum distillery falls into the category of hospitality, and this was a special event for the club, Shelly conducted the banner exchange with the president. As the meeting ended, the club presented us with gifts of, what else, bottles of Depaz rum.
