Rotary Club of Fort de France Sud, Martinique

March 11 – The team was hosted by the Rotary Club of Fort de France Sud (South) at their luncheon meeting. As is usual in Martinique, it was an excellent four or five course meal with wine, ad today with champagne as the club celebrated a Rotarian’s birthday.

Fun fact: The meeting was held on the roof terrace of the Hotel L’Imperatice (Empress). There are a lot of things in Fort de France named Josephine – it turns out Napoleon Bonaparte’s wife was born here on Martinique. Who knew?

The club, like many clubs in the Caribbean, is raising funds to purchase Shelter Boxes to be sent to Haiti. The Fort de France Sud club is auctioning off a car and will use all the proceeds to by as many Shelter Boxes as they can.
