March 8 - Our first meeting in Martinique was with the club in downtown Fort de France, the capital of this department of France. The club meets in the historic Hotel de la Imperatrice (the Empress) on the roof terrace overlooking the city.
Although we do not speak French, the members of the club were very gracious as we tried to explain who we are, where we are from and what we do. Club President Yoann Mansuela ensured that we had a great French lunch - the meetings here last much longer to accommodate the five course meal, complete with libation in the French tradition.
The club has also been helpful in the logistics of moving us around busy, crowded cosmopolitan French city. All in all, an excellent meeting.
